Dr. Matthew W. Hughey is Professor of Sociology at the University of Connecticut, where he studies the social dimensions of “race”, media, organizations, science, and religion. He is the author of nine books, including White Bound (Stanford), The Obamas and a (Post)Racial America? (Oxford), 12 Angry Men (The New Press), Racialized Media (NYU) and The White Savior Film (Temple). He writes, teaches, and speaks widely about the relationships between race and racism; knowledge and power; conflict and belonging; representations and consumption, and; theory and methodology.
